Default Farrington lake pike fishing

Skillfullangler and I had the afternoon free yesterday so we decided to take a ride over to farrington lake. Wind was INSANE but we still decided to give it a whirl. Launched by hardenburg lane and drifted down hitting every cove we could to get out of the wind. Skillfullangler stuck a nice pickerel in the first little cove we hit but flopped out of his hand before we could get a pic. A whole lot of nothing after that so we decided to go over by the falls to get out of the wind a little bit. Fished that whole section pretty hard but not to much going on until he nails another nice pickerel. But still no pike. We decided to troll the drop off the whole way back and it produced pretty nicely for us. First fish hit hard And I could tell it was nice. First farrington lake pike?? Nope but a nice pickerel. Made a couple more passes at this spot and hooked one more fish that spit the hook when he jumped. Appeared to be another nice pickerel. That was pretty much it for the day spent about 4-4/12 hours on the water, but left without our pike. Good day considering we were riding 2 ft white caps all afternoon lol.

Been using big lures there last couple weeks trying for my first farrington pike. Did real well on the bass and a couple decent pics. Still no Pike. I also wonder where the heck they are. Did hook into a REAL nice one there last year but lost it at the boat. So they are out there but I guess not in big #'s

Fished this pond for the better part of 13 years and have only come up with 2 pike there while fishing for LMB. Caught more in Spruce Run...just saying, fishing the same type of patterns. Farrington is my go-to pond...close and effective early in the spring and late in the fall. Have seen lots of guys trolling for pike in the lower reaches toward the dam. Never seen one actually hooked up, but know that they must from time to time. Hooked mine in the upper reaches early near the pads. Once saw a pike explode on a baby goose and engulf it in a single bite...awesome. Present, not extremely abundant in MPO.
