Every time you post pictures of your trips, man does it bring back memories. Imagine catching fish like that from shore which was exactly the case back in the 60's and 70's until again our fisheries management and government destroyed it with excessive commercial netting and trade negotiations with Russia. Like every fishery these days, we are being deprived of another public resource we have the God given right to enjoy because it's being or was exploited by politicians for political gain, greed and money. Our fisheries resources are being horse traded for personal gain while we and future generations get screwed. Glad to see the ling and whiting fishery flourish in northern waters, tragic it has never rebounded in the NY Bight. Again for anyone who never experienced it, you can't begin to imagine how great it was year in year out.

Also, is there an inshore fishery for them during the winter/early spring, in shallow water up there, or is it all deep water fishing ?

Mohawk every year is different but we have had great Whiting fishing in September. The deeper water holds the bigger Whiting. The inshore Whiting is still 200 feet deep and that is where you will see the commercial guys

Can I post videos ?

Actually one of the biggest contributing factors to their demise was enacting the 200 mile limit, that excluded all foreign govt's from commercial fishing inside of our 200 mile limit boundaries . It did not have limits for our own commercial fleets , so guess what happened no whiting , ling ! Big factor in this fishery destruction !
