![]() I'll be up in High Point this weekend. Probably only camping on Saturday night due to t-storms and rain Friday night. If I have half a day, should I fish Sawmill Lake, Lake Marcia, Steenykill or take a short ride somewhere? Any warmwater species will do. I probably want to leave the trout alone in Flatbrook since its Mid July.
Thanks in advance for any advice. |

![]() For what its worth, I C&R'd ~15 trout in the flatbrook this past Saturday. Lots of fish in there. Find structure or shade, and they are stacked.

![]() No exact water temp no, however the C&R stretch gets a lot of shade and water was cool to the touch
I'll be back there this Friday, maybe I'll post up a report! |

![]() There is a rather large river just west of High Point that might be worth checking out if it's not flowing with chocolate milk.

![]() As 'Scoward' mentioned the 'Big D' is very close by and right now is in good shape. The many lakes and ponds in the area offer plenty of options. The Flatbrook was running at 68-69 degrees this past weekend through the 'No-kill' and below to Walpack. Below there it begins to warm pretty quickly due to a change in the nature of the stream to a lower gradient, wider and more open streambed.
If you want to bag some trout for the pan hit the areas below the 'No-kill', or you could run down Rt. 23 to Clove Brook. It's a small stocked stream that is still holding a few rainbows but they won't last much longer in there. Wherever you end up, Good Luck! |

![]() As a follow-up. Nice weekend camping. Campsites right on the water. Bass holding on the edges of the weeds. Lots of weeds. Weed choked, to be exact.
If you ever want to check out the monument I'd suggest very early in the morning or in the fall when the crowds thin out. The monument and beach area were packed with out of state visitors. |
