Default Great longisland sound porgies

Took a ride to City Island and got on the IC. Captain said the boat supplies clams but sand worms have been out producing so I bought 2 dozen from the tackle shop.
After an hour steam We anchored in 20 feet. Crew put out chum bags around the boat and it was lock and load! Drop and reel. I only kept those over 12 inches and had a NY limit of 30 no problem. There were about 25 winter flounder a keeper fluke and a few short stripers caught as well. Some of the porgies were real jumbos. Looked like our offshore fish. Captain and mates were first class. Captain was dead on about the worms, They bit clam but it was 5 to 1 against worms. I caught over 50 porgy with 2 dozen worms. They sell for 6.50 a dozen at the tackle shop or 10 a dozen on the boat.
