![]() With our Canyon trips starting late next week, we wanted to get offshore and look over some promising areas .. Had a great weather window for a day trip on Thursday, so shoved off after our Weds Striper trip. Arrived around 1am and set up for sharks. Had a nice 250lb Mako eat a bluefish fillet around 2:45am .. good fight and got her boatside where we let her swim free for another day (we have released our last 5 Makos with two of those over 500lbs). No other bites by first light so we got up on troll. Set out a spread of ballyhoo and splash / spreader bars. Had a few shots at the Bluefin with all the troll bites on Sterling Splash Bars in Purple and Zucchini. Our offshore season has officially begun, with the first Mako and Tuna caught in New Jersey this spring. Based on water conditions we saw first hand, fishing should improve over the next few weeks , with Yellowfin and Bigeye mixing in soon . Our calendar is very full with only a few dates left on WATER PROOF in June. We have a few open boat spots left and a few dates for full boat .. open trips are $675 per person and trips are 24-30 hours.
