Thumbs up Shark River Fluke Report - They're Here :-)

Stopped by Jakesdad's Marina to help Ronnie and Henry prep Honeybee for splash. Unfortunately she didn't splash today but soon . . .

That didn't stop me from jigging for a few minutes from the end of Henry's dock.

Henry: Catch anything yet ?
Me: Nah but I think I just got a hit.
Ronnie: Catch anything yet ?
Me: Nah but something just stole my bait.
Henry: You're gonna run out of bait fishing solo.
Me: GET THE NET !

My trout rod doubled over and the familiar head-shakes gave me goosebumps - this was no Sea Robin. Sure enough it was a 19" keeper that I flipped onto the floating dock, snapped a pic & she swam away happy.

I then stopped fishing, ensuring that my keeper ratio remains 100% I only made 4 or 5 casts in total, but had several bites. I hope this good omen bodes well for all NJFers in 2017.

Those poor endangered fluke can't get a break. :roll eyes: Nice catch guys. Hopefully the supreme powers wake up and give us a decent fluke season this year.

Larry, You just wanted everyone to see how swelt you became over the winter.

Nice to at least get out in the fresh air.

Nice! If it was me that sucker would have some Wasabi and soy on it with a little pickled ginger on the side.
