![]() My buddy has kanouse brook behind his house and there is a small swamp with some nice pools i have seen as well. I have heard you can fish the brook with a watershed daily permit? Anyone ever fish it? If so what is the lure of choice?

![]() Kanouse Brook is listed as a trout production water, meaning that trout naturally reproduce there. Most of it is on the Newark watershed property but it does flow through private property in places.
I haven't read the rules for watershed property in a while, but I believe that their basic fishing permit only allows access to the reservoirs, not the streams. There may be additional permission required for streams. I could be wrong and perhaps someone here can correct me If the section flows through your friend's property, then you can fish there until your heart is content. On a small stream such as that I would flyfish, or if spinning use worms, meal worms and Power Baits. In deeper holes you can probably have results with small spinners such as Mepps, Vibrax, Rooster Tail and Panther Martin. Good luck! |

![]() I know for sure that there is a permit for the main stretch of the Pequannock River below Charlottesburg res. I cant remember if thats the Newark Watershed or something else. Definitely some big wild browns in there. Always have a shot at a smallmouth getting washed down from Charlottesburg too
