Default Lower Lamington

After getting skunked at RV, on the way back home I decided to check out the lamington river near Fox Hollow (and get skunked again)

No luck with smb nor trout- not sure how rare they are around there, downstream the North Branch is stocked and upstream there are wild trout streams.

Other than a lot of golf balls, all I saw were minnows in the shallows and some big carp around the bridge. I was thinking that would be a good sign for smb but i saw no signs of them.

Ended at the junction with rockaway creek- there were plenty of spots and holes were fish could be holding up in- the best was taken by a school of carp that I couldnt get to bite

Any advice? Dont hear about this river here much. Hopefully I can grab my first SMB before the trout streams are closed off

They're in there. Water is still really cold. Lamington flows cooler than the raritan. With this March polar vortex don't expect much for a while. It's gonna set them back even longer. They'll bite once trout season opens. It's like clockwork. Every trout opener meet and greet someone in the group rips a toad smallie

I pretty much live around the corner from the Lamington and the smally fishing was definitely off from the prior year.

Great river! Beautiful scenic and crystal clear! More than half of it is off limits due to clubs and preserves and no trespassing signs! You see those no trespassing signs in your travels? That's where the fish are, haha!

I actually didn't see any, but last time when I checked out the black River and tried going downstream, south of the state park, there were only a few places that werent private. Just gotta drive and find a roadside dirt flat that doesn't have signs.

Sweet- didnt know about their stocking. I checked their site and they only really mention that they stocked after a restoration project. I heard from some other sources that they even got trout to reproduce in there :O

What did it take to make that section "restored" for trout? That's something they skimmed over.
