![]() Only had one class this morning and decided to hit up a small pond relatively close to home. Got there around 3pm and starting throwing senkos and rapalas. Within a couple minutes get small bass, then later some small pickerel and better bass around 15". Walked around almost the whole place before getting hit HARD. Felt alot of weight before feeling the head shakes. One nice jump and she bulldogged towards some vegetation. I was getting worried but kept pulling her in. Finally lipped her, tore the grass off the line and snapped a quick pic before releasing.
The biggest bass I caught in this pond, she measured 20-21 inches. Any idea of the weight?? ![]() ![]()

![]() long with a big head but looks a little thin in the back section. if that thing gets the right forage base it'll get really big!!! you should practice catch and eat with some of the runts (12-14") bass in there help the big ones out!

![]() .
Wow - that's an awesome bass. According the the Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commision length-weight charts, a 21" bass is over 5 pounds! https://www.fish.state.pa.us/pafish/...s_overview.htm Quote:
Under some circumstances in private lakes that receive little or no harvest, biologists recommend harvesting small bass to free up the forage for the bigger bass. But that is not a private lake and we live in one of the most densely populated areas of the world. The bass don't need any help dying. A pond with public access that has a good population of bass in NJ is just a temporary situation. Eventually it will be "discovered" and most of those bass will go home in a bucket. We have all seen it before. .

![]() I have seen this happen with this pond. In the past I would be able to catch many nice bass, pickerel and yellow perch in one outing. Now it's tough to catch any bass over 15 inch. I have not caught perch in years and I'm pretty sure they all left in a bucket because the trash and foot traffic has increased. But atleast I know there's still some nice fish left.
