Default Planer keeps breaking off

Ran #16 planer twice this year. It runs fine for about an hour or two then it breaks off. 1st time we thought maybe shark or wahoo but when it happend again this weekend what are those odds? Its breaking off in the Dacron mainline right before the bridle. Starting to get expensive

I have seen planers rigged with a heavy duty rubber bungee cord to help take up shock. That might help.

you need 200lb hollow core, make a loop in the end and loop the planer right around the loop. I have been running 24 and 32oz planers like this for 10 years.

also do you have it on a rod or to the cleat?

I'm running it off an 80 and a bentbutt.

Are you using 2 rods...1 for planer and the other for lure?
