Default Roosters Flukin 8-18-16

Drop and reel Sea Robins everywhere we tried, Knoll, Sandy Hook Channel edges, aside the Ammo Pier and down the beach. The channel itself was running too hard for Tom and I. Anyway two keeper Fluke for Tom and none for me. There were Bluefish around doggies and Dolphin very near the beaches and all the largest Sea Robins anyone could want. Ocean water was very clear. Pete

Seems like you guys are having a rough time of this this year Pete... That was not so the last few years as I remember seeing a lot of good reports in the past.

Any how, hope it gets better for you and for what it's worth this year the fish are deep. Head east and deep.

Was out yesterday on a "sporty" ocean. The wind was steady and gusting. We couldn't get out to where we wanted so we fished south along the beach. Agreed, lots of big robins, sometimes on both the jig and teaser. No doggies but lots of clear nose skates and one cownose. The water was in the mid 70's and clean once we got past the Highlands Bridge. The fluke were scattered in 30 feet but only one 3.5 pounder made it to the cooler. Once we got inside the bay and back into the river, the water temperature went way up and the water became almost muddy. At one point, the temp gauge read 86 deg. If you add Old Bay to the Shrewsbury River you can scoop up already cooked blue claws, which, by the way, are huge!
