![]() I have a buddy who does quite well dragging big baits (whole squid, etc..) with circle hooks.. he understands how to properly fish a circle..and catches his share..That said, it makes absolutely no sense to use them in any kind of jigging set up.. You need to fish differently with circles.. you cannot "set the hook" in the traditional sense.. you must come tight and just reel until the hook sets itself.. Makes no sense to mix a J style (like on a jig), that you must 'set" on a bite, with a circle (say on a teaser), that you can't jerk...you will never know when to jerk and when to reel...
