Default Spruce Run Water Level?

Does anyone who has been Spruce Run in the last week or so know how far the water is down? Are the docks completely out? entire concrete showing for launch?

Docks and concrete are totally out. Gotta launch out to the side. The good news is that it has only gone down 2" from last Wednesday!

.

A park employee told me this weekend that they closed the "beach" swimming area for the summer because the water levels have fallen below 70% and there is no chance of them increasing it this year.

The good news is you really don't need the boat ramp. People launch from the sloped bank just fine.

My concern is more for the little fishies. Aren't the fish born this spring and the fish that are stocked small a lot more likely to survive if there are shallow water areas?

I am sure they have plenty places to hide there. My concern is always the drawdowns during the spawn, not sure if the fish are smart enough to make the adjustment. Few years ago, they drew down Monksville to repair the dam, it was right in the middle of the spawn, the water dropped a few feet in a week, I don't think the spawn was very successful that year.

great point eskimo ,the juvenile fish are more prone to predation by bigger fish.ample cover may not be as available as it would be in shallow water.they are probably gonna take a big hit with water levels that low.

The "shallows" at spruce provide minimal coverage for smaller fish. There's virtually no weeds in that place. The smaller fish hide under rocks and sunken tree branches. That's about it. It's been fine for years. The drawn downs the last three years have done nothing to really impact fish populations. Actually, I've caught more largemouth and smallmouth bass there this year than I have in the past 3-4 yrs. Bass fry are all over the place too.
