Cool Flat fish and the one that got away!

Went out for fluke yesterday with my Dad. Started in the shallows but no drift so we moved on out toward the channel. Hit a honey hole and caught 3 keepers in a row..wow! After that the tide started moving to fast to jig correctly so left that area. It got super hot (92f) in the bay so we moved to the ocean side. We picked a few shorts and keepers ...nothing great. On the way back to the dock on stopped on a well know spot for big fluke and after the 3rd drift I hooked onto a monster. I started reeling it in but then it felt like I was stuck on the bottom but could feel it's head still shaking. I started up the boat and turned around while keeping pressure on the fish and still feeling it shaking. It was like being stuck but it was a fish. Finally the fish/bottom got loose. Man was I pis...d! Once again....the one that got away. Good luck and tight lines!

I think we all remember that 1 or 2 or 3 good fish that we had but lost it, I still remember 2 fluke that I lost and 3 blackfish that still haunt me to this day. I still kick myself thinking I could have done something different to land those fish...but I guess that's what makes us keep coming back.
So how many keepers did you end up with?

Pete, We wound up with 7 keepers. My Dad caught 3 and i caught 4 plus a lot of shorts. I think if we stayed in the bay we could of caught a few more keepers but it was just to hot and there was a nice breeze on the ocean side. Tight lines!
