MUSHIN - SOUTHERN CANYONS - 6/30 to 7/3

MUSHIN has arrived in Cape May to take advantage of the Southern Canyons and inshore grounds for all kinds of tuna, marlin, and other pelagics! We steamed to the South on 6/30 and hit a southern canyon before checking into our Cape May slip on 7/1, where we will stay for all of July. The beautiful water had moved out somewhat, but we managed some yellowfin, mahi, and white marlin bites - and countless sharks at night on our first trip. Our 7/2-3 trip further south found tons of life and a canyon primed for bigeye bite. We picked a few yellowfin and had some more white marlin bites during the day. As the sun started to set, we hooked a beasty bigeye that dumped nearly the whole spool with plenty of drag. After a very brief fight, the beast got to continue to be a beast when the hook pulled. We added some mahi and yellowfin the next morning. Our many new dock neighbors came back with some impressive BFT catches (and many many more releases) while fishing much closer than the offshore canyons. This certainly gives us another whole fishery to do in addition to the offshore canyons! We just had two spots open up for this 7/9-10 as two guys on the trip had to move their date. Call Capt.
