Default Surf Report 7/4/2016

Went to a Sandy Hook beach this morning, since I don't own a boat or kayak had to stick to the surf.
Lots of action today, unlike many of my previous trips to the hook the past few years.
Caught Fluke, sundial flounders, tons of searobin, and a stargazer (and a hungry seagull).

Fished from roughly 8am - 2pm with a long break. Bite died around 11am but I decided to give it another go around 1pm and it was almost as if the fish were replenished.
Only one keeper fluke but it was a lot of fun.

Fish were biting on a fluke bucktail rig with gulp baits. A few times the rig came back with two fish on.

At some points every cast produced a fish or two. Absolutely amazing considering I stayed in roughly the same spot. Usually i have to move a lot and cover close to a mile distance to catch maybe 4 fish max but today we probably got around 40+ fish all together in one spot. A few other fishermen around us were catching them too.

Fish are definitely in the surf. Small baitfish schools as well. Fish feeding on tiny shrimp and peanut bunker in the surf (based on what they spit out.)

Get out there if you can guys! Especially if you can't go on a boat.

Sounds like some fun fishing dude! I was at Beach E with the family yesterday! The short Fluke and jumbo Sea Robin bite was hot from 8-11 am! The damn Robins were a lot bigger on average than I can remember! Oh and a few Sun dials came on small white Gulp as well! TIGHT LINEZ!!!

Some of the searobin were very good size for sure, Eddie!
Rammfish do post what you get. I hope this bite continues for at least a month before the snapper schools start to invade and tear everything up.
It was very nice fishing without snapper - every lure came back intact for the most part.

The tip is closed, but i think they re-open it sometime in September.
It is probably a 20 min walk or more to the tip.

Nice report Ramm, glad the fish are sticking around all over the beach. I'm going to try to go back either this weekend or next.
