Default Useful Fluke length/weight chart

Length Average. . . . . . . weight in pounds
15-16 inches . . . . . . . . . . . 1 to 1¼
17-18 inches . . . . . . . . . . . 2 to 2¾
20 inches . . . . . . . . . . . . . .3 to 3½
22 inches . . . . . . . . . . . . . .4
24 inches . . . . . . . . . . . . . .5
27 inches . . . . . . . . . . . . . .8
30 inches . . . . . . . . . . . . . .10
37 inches . . . . . . . . . . . . . .20

I've found this chart to be extremely accurate. The only outlier was Dales' anorexic 27.5"er in the Elks tourny that didn't crack 7 lbs

I typically go by
24"=4#
25"=5#
26"=6#
27"=7#
Etc. There are exceptions with girth but I find this to be pretty accurate.

If you get an electronic one, don't get it wet, damp or near water ever. I've destroyed three so far. I gave up.

On the other hand, they are nice to have. Last week on vacation we fished on the Angler out of OCMD. My grand daughter Taylor caught a 19" fluke. One of their regulars also had a 19" fluke for the pool. The mate called it tie at 3 pounds on his spring scale until someone pulled out a berkley digital scale. Taylor's was 2 lb 9 1/4 oz, the other was 2 lb 8 3/4 oz. Taylor went home with the $140 pool.
