Default Monks/yak/lucky rapala

Monksville(6-10) was super hard with the wind, ended up dragging a bucket to slow down. Didn't work (boats a skiff, no v)Nabbed a rock bass, saw some lmb laying in the weeds, but they weren't interested in much. Only was out for 3 hours, the guys who came with me weren't super into it

Kayaked on lower twin lake on Thursday. Snuck out for two hours between showers. Grabbed 3 big pickerel. A very well fed lmb and a perch. Been working and fighting the weather(thank god that wind is gone)
Saw more fish but they were lazy. The bass didn't fight till he saw the yak. His belly was super full. All on rapalas surprisingly
Of note. Any one ever de-bill a rapala? My f-7 the plastic dive piece came off. Last cast. Didn't even hit a rock or trim a tree with it. Thinking its a fatal error.

Beating the weather while catching some fish...don't get better than that! Nice bag man, and always more fun with lures rather than bait!! I've actually been having great luck with a lure I had to fix the diving lip on. Not too hard, but if you put a new one on, it has to be straight. A great fit on many diving lips is if you take the walls that separate sections in a regular tackle box and cut it down to match whatever lip you're replacing, and a few coats of crazy glue to hold it secure. This will definitely work, but it has to be glued on straight. Good luck if you try it out! While fixing lures in the past, I thought how great would it be if you can send in X amount of busted lures for a brand new 1. That'd be sweet, but won't happen!

Sorry for your loss

It should be about time for Monksville to really slow down like that. Should be hit or miss through the summer, but if you keep at it there are some big ol' monsters to be had in there. Looks like Twin Lake is working out for ya though...cool beans!

any fish caught in skunksville is a good one, gotta love those fresh water groupers especially when they save you from a skunkin.nice job at lower twin lake sounds like you did well as for the broken lip on your rapala you can use any rigid plastic but be sure its thick enuff and the right size.i have used two ton epoxy to set them on the lure again. if the action is off you can use a small grinder to shape the lip better.good luck.

Thanks every body!

And yea, lower twin lake is maybe a mile away and I launch in a little park. Next two weeks I'll hit somewhere else.
Hopefully with my Franken-rapala

Slim chances you'll get that lure to run true again without a lot of tuning. Just buy a new one. Having confidence in a particular style of lure is what's important.

Nice fish man, that's a solid pickerel!! I've lost the lip on countless rapalas. Especially the CD 1. I usually take the hooks off and throw them on the Christmas tree, lol. But now I'm thinking they owe me some lures........
