There've been a few BIG fish hooked on bunker spoons and mojos the last week and a half that have dumped/smoked regular wire reels and in some cases spooled them. These are not bass OR bluefish.

The last 3 trips, I've spotted small packs of tuna and yes they were bluefin -- didn't get a clear look at them but they were decent sized fish... Did we see Giants? I don't know about that...

Last Sunday we were one of the boats that had a monster hit on a spoon that dumped a 113 and spooled us as we were backing down on the fish... The leader BROKE (80# leader!) just below the swivel and the swivel's eye was bending. We've caught plenty of big bass and bluefish on bunker spoons and what happened Sunday was MUCH larger than any bass or bluefish that we've hooked while pulling around a spoon. It was a big fish and I'm going to assume is was either a thresher or a BFT - we never got a look at it. My neighbor Dan McGivney who is an extremely seasoned shark fisherman also said it could've been a porbeagle with the cool water temps - so those are my guesses.

A buddy of mine also got spooled yesterday on a spoon. And finally, I've heard rumors and seen a couple of pictures of some bluefins caught - so who knows?

I'm fishing up here now, so you can drop the attitude. One of our local boats went out 3 days ago, good fisherman, specifically for bluefin, but didn't see any. The 3 fish that I know were caught were 30-50 miles off.
