But First -------

It's been a great start to our offshore season with our first big-eye, and our first sword coming in record time out of North Carolina - and now our first tuna being brought into Manasquan Inlet. Moreover, they were caught within range of Maryland and New Jersey boats. And it's just the middle of April!

Running our 48' Canyon Runner home from Oregon Inlet after a major face-lift and after catching tons of bluefin plus the big-eye and sword - Capt. Deane Lambros - with Capt. Kevin Muller in the pit - decided to troll up through the canyons and picked fish almost the entire way. Yellowfins to 30 pounds were in the mix plus plenty of bluefin from 70 inches up to 95 inches that was released. Capt. Deane wrecked his hand trying to release that 95 incher - but he'll be fine for the start of our full swing canyon season in about a month.

With both Canyon Runner boats back in Manasquan now it's time to start fishing up here. We planned to do several weeks of striper fishing but by the looks of the water offshore we are going to have a very early canyon season. So those of you sitting on the fence to grab a charter or outfit your boats - you may miss out if you wait any longer.

Below is a water temp shot from today. That water is sliding up the bank and well within range of boats all the way up to New Jersey. Hopefully everyone took advantage of the warm winter and you have your boats in already. That said - with this nice stretch of weather coming we'll get very clear shots of the water the next day or so and will know for sure what is going on with the water offshore.

Good luck to everyone out in the canyons this 2016 season - if it's just half as good as last year - it will be one for the ages.
