![]() Great video. Thanks for sharing. I found it interesting that they cooked the fish whole before canning.
They are still fishing this way in the Maldives. The only real difference is that the boats they use have high pressure water jest churning up the water around the boat where the guys are jigging. https://youtu.be/HP6rYThJWUg. And Greenpeace supports these guys!

![]() I think that was a precook so they could trim the meat while it was still firm. The final cooking was after i was canned.

![]() As a kid, I remember seeing them "fishing from the racks" on the Pathe news in the movies...There is a VHS video "A Tribute To Tuna" still available...I watch it 2-3 times a year...Ever since I saw it in the movies, always wanted to go tuna fishing....took many, many years to satisfy that want...thanks to Muldune, he pushed me into the chance to go--didn't take much pushing
![]() Some of the tuna in the Tribute video were very difficult to boat -even with 4-pole sets--had to be 300#+--just awesome... just remembered--there's a part 2 to "Tribute" both parts DVD both available at Amazon--

![]() Almost all canned tuna is pre-cooked than packed in liquid and cooked again. That is why it doesn't taste like tuna.
The is a company called Wild Planet that only cooks once and without added liquid. I hear it is very good, but it is only available on the west coast.
