Default Launching Ramp Info for Flounder

** posted this in the Boating section by mistake a few days ago:

" I want to bring my skiff down this Spring and fish for some winter flounder in the back bays so any help from you old sharpies would be appreciated.
Any recommendations for a NJ marina with and/or a public non-resident boat ramp for launching and a parking area for my truck/trailer ?? "

Since then I picked up some info from the other two new threads here but would like to get some info on Marina/ramps in the southern NJ Bays.

Shark River Municipal Ramp in Belmar is a natural for flounder. There is one hole just west of the ramp and then a couple more by the tennis courts.

Might want to check on Shark River this year before heading down. They started the dredge project late last year and from what I understand it will actually go through this season and possibly into next. I don't have all the facts but know it's a work in process. Will be interesting to see what effect the dredging they've done already has had on the flounder population in Shark River. Very small area with thin water so it could have had dire consequences or who knows maybe none at all but I doubt that. Aside from the fishery, the parking lot on the south end of the marina which was devoted to trucks and trailers using the launch site is 100% dedicated to the dredge project and will be unavailable for parking for the entire '16 season into '17 from what I was told. In addition they've broken ground on construction of the restaurant which will be leased by Jack Baker (owner of Wharfside and Lobster Shanty in Point). Has to be at minimum 60 additional parking spots lost to the location of the restaurant and who knows how many more to the construction crews and equipment while the structure is being built. Belmar Municipal Marina in other words is going to be an absolute mess this season and with the added crowds from Pier 9 in the summer, party boats, marina tenants and people trying to launch at the ramp forget about finding a parking spot. Wanted to point that out to anyone heading their for flounder and or fishing this summer. Plan on an early departure since parking will be at an all time premium assuming you can even find a spot.

Belmar has been a bit of a mess for trailer guys since Sandy & with all the construction parking is hard after ninish. Go over the bridge you can launch at Macks bait store ramp. You wont have any problems.

The docks are still under construction? Is that a make work project? They have been working on those docks for the past 5 years it seems.

Try the other side of the river at Shark River Hills. I believe there are 2 places to launch over there.
