Default Apple Picking & A Couple Fat Bows

Had off yesterday and the wifey wanted to go apple picking so we decided to take a ride out to scenic Chester Nj. Spent a few hours walking the farm, shopping, and taking in the scenery. When we left, I mentioned we happened to be close to a nice state park with a stream and could take a walk......

Surprisingly enough, she was game! Took a bit of a hike to get to the water but once there it was game on! Planned on keeping my first fish and it ended up being a nice fat bow!! CPRd a few more and even had my wife ask to try a few casts!!

Spent a few minutes giving her some casting tips and she did well but no bites. Eventually I was able to hook one and let her fight it. Sure enough, she landed it!

The river was definitely low and had some leaves. I could even see fish swimming upstream at some spots. The fish I took was full of eggs so I'm not sure if it was spawning behavior or just them looking for some deeper water???

All in all a beautiful day out in the country with some great fall scenery and even had my wife fishing, lol! Can't beat that!!

.........

.....

Thanks all!! That fish was loaded with eggs. I even saved em and froze em cause I hear they make good salmon / trout bait??

I definitely focused most of my fishing on trout this year. Besides the last year or two I never really did a lot of trout fishing in the past other than the old opening day bait fishing. Plus with helping out with the stocking and lots of trial and error I feel like I def got a lot better at it.

Also, without my boat and not buying shed permits this year, I decided to go with the out of state license. Only thing I like more than catching is fishing new water and I walked and fished more new water this year than I can describe!! Scenic mountain streams where I never saw another person / angler all day. Also, caught a few beauties along the way!!

Hoping to have the boat floating again by next spring so I can get back to my bass and pike fishing!! Maybe check out some new lakes, and species I havnt caught yet!! But I'll definitely be chasing trout more than I used to!
