Default 9/5/2015 and 9/7/2015 NNJ pond reports

Two beautiful days on the water this long weekend. So thankful just to get out there.

Fished a small, clear, deep pond on Saturday from six to noon. One 15" LM on a senko in 8 FOW on a weed edge.

Fished a shallow, stained, weedy lake with a variety of pads on Monday from six to eight thirty am. Threw a spro frog, caught the skunk. No one else out there. One bank fisherman showed up as I was leaving, hopefully he had better luck. Heard sunnies popping bugs off the bottom of pads? Saw one decent size swirl. Threw around there for half an hour with the frog and a creature, no luck. I wondered if the frog hitting the water was scaring the fish away because it was so shallow? So I tried softer casts, no difference though.

it could make a difference, try a sidearm cast (where the lure never comes more than a foot or two from the surface) and slow it to a stop before it hits so it basically just falls softly from a foot up onto the water.

On the other hand bass looking for a frog to eat will usually love a ruckus. like if a frog gets scared by something on the shore and jumps into the water it makes a real frantic splashing.

I've had more luck with the 'buzz' style frogs lately than the hollow belly popping or sliding.

Thanks for the advice, I'll try that next time and I just ordered some zoom horny toads and those frog hooks with the screw lock. Can't wait to try them out!
