![]() Looking to take a day off from the salt and enjoy a day of bottom bouncing out there.
Never targeted cats before in my life and would love to give it a shot from the kayak. Not sure how sensitive of a topic this is, but since they are catfish I imagine not too bad. Is this the wrong time of year to try for a full day anchor and chum gig...if conditions are good should I be drifting? Hate sounding like a total newbie but I've never done this before and would love to give it a try. |

![]() I never fished for them from the kayak but used live or dead shiners fished on the bottom from shore with success.

![]() What type of catfish you will be targeting?
Channels are pretty much all over the place and you should have no issues getting into some cats in no time If you want to target white cats, there is only one specific place that produced to me on constant basis. Have not caught a bull so wont comment on that one Live shiners work best if hugging the shore line from the boat rental place to the right, Coves will produce on constant basis just don't be surprised to get hooked into a turtle For whites you can pm for the spot and I will share or you can figure it out from my previous posts. But chicken livers always, always produce for both cats and some hybrids so hell you can always give that one a try as well. Never fished from yak though with them so it should be interesting. Let us know how it will turn out for you. Andre |
