![]() After spending two weeks beating on the bass, blues, blackfish and fluke on the jersey shore hit the PR today for a few hours in the stretch where I had my best day ever three weeks ago
Water clear and very low, not a sniff, not even a follow on a stretch where I landed two dozen not long ago Love this river ! |

![]() Sundays are always the worst fishing day of the week. Any spot u go, u have no idea who was there the previous day. I never judge a place on how it fishes Sunday nor would I ever make plans to hit any place I think was fished Saturday. Exception being if Saturday was a shitty weather day(rain) and kept people home. In that case, Sunday could be a decent day.

![]() I agree with buzznait, but as a side note pr can change very quickly. Most likely there were fish still there but the changing river system had them stressed and acting weird. I recently got skunked at one of my best spots but I saw the pike short striking and mock striking my lures. Lure Color changes and size changes did not help. They just get weird sometimes I think.

![]() The most frustarting part is that as you get to know the same sections and know every snag, log and weedbed, there are certain spots you KNOW there has to be a pike sitting there yet each trip, nothing. Then for some unknown reason, your next trip there - boom - 30" pike. Just don't get it. All it does is make you keep casting to those same spots 'cause you just never know if today is the day. If you create a google satellite map and put red "X's" wherever you caught a pike or had a swipe(which I have done as I can best remember), you realize ANY area of the river can produce save a few quick moving spots where there is actaully a decent currrent.
Last month or so, bass caught have outnumbered pike by about 5:1 so there's that.

![]() Quick hour trip after work today. One small LM, only second LM of year for me, one decent pike at 29 and one good blow up on buzzbait. Water low and off color but not muddy; did see another fisherman and 3 kayaker a in this stretch where I have never seen anyone before
Back out Sunday |
