![]() Every year I try to focus using a new lure/bait to increase my arsenal of presentations. This year I would like to target some river smallmouth with tubes. I have had success using sticks worms, cranks, spinners etc but have never put in time with tubes. The research I've done points me to 3" variety in darker colors on a 1/8oz weight.
Anyone have any suggestions on what brand they would recommend? Also does anyone use rattles for river smallies? |

![]() I like Yamamoto and Strike King tubes. I used rattles sometimes but I have not noticed much of a difference with or without rattles.

![]() Thanks Brian, I ended up buying some powerteam lures 3.5" tubes that were recommended on a different site. I took em out for 30min on the PR and caught a cookie cutter smallie on it. So it's a start!!

![]() My grandparents used to run a campground on a tributary of the Susquehanna less than a mile from the main river and I used to put in work out there with tubes. We exclusively used basspro shops salty tender tubes on 1/16-1/8 oz tender tube jig heads. 90% of the smallies we caught came on these tubes in white, shad was main forage. Caught walleye, trout, several kinds of bass, and catfish. Excellent fish catchers. Can even be rigged weed less and kind of floated on top and use "walk the dog" action.
