Default Birthday Gold

Out with my buddy and outdoor writer Lou Martinez for a little fun night fishing. Despite a slow night we did manage this porker walleye and a nice smallie. I've never seen such robust fat walleyes....incredible bellies on these things....growth rates and overall body thickness/robustness are immense for the size of fish we are catching. One day someone is going to crack a 15-16 lber. at the rate this fishery is going. We also dropped another nice fish at the boat and Lou nailed this nice smallie....Enjoy! Capt. Dave

Beauty fish
We got one couple weeks back that had a FAT belly too. like pre-spawn belly.

We have gotten them to around 10 LB but never above 10.
You really think 15-16# fish are lurking in there?
I would think that You would know best.
How old would a wally of that size be?

Thumbs up Re: Birthday Gold

That's a great looking super healthy Walleye! Way to beat the big SKUNK! Congrats on a fine catch!

Walleye grow at a very rapid rate. I don't remember the numbers and specifics. I just know that they grow much quicker than any other fish stocked. This depends on forage and diet of course.

nice fish! but i really don't believe we'll ever see one that big...too many bigger size ranged ones kept too often in my opinion.
