Default New to Forums/NJ Fishing

Hi guys, wanted to make my first post to the forums. I am new to the waters of NJ, moved over here from PA, particularly Pittsburgh. With that being said, I have been struggling to find some good spots! Ive done decent for trout so far this year, but as the weather warms up I am looking to catch something of some real size. Looking to do some river fishing, I reside in Somerset County, so the Raritan has been my first instinct. Only problem is I cant find much river access for shore fishing. I've spent a lot of time wasted driving around just trying to find decent access points.

Any advice for some more well known areas (not looking for your secret spots, unless you d like to be generous ). Doesn't have to be strictly the Raritan, anywhere works.

I look forward to participating on here, and hope you guys can throw me a bone.

Welcome to the site !! Ahhhhh Raritan river and Somerset County, my home waters. Good way to find your way around is Google Earth, and make notes as you scan around, that is what I do. Use the bar on this page that says "search" and type in Raritan river. You can type in South Branch of the Raritan river and North Branch of the Raritan river also, plenty of good water to be had.
There is also the D&R canal and Millstone river not to be over looked.

The main stem of the Raritan river starts at Duke Island Park in Bridgewater, plenty of access there.

Keep us posted, and keep an eye on the PM box, info flows around here in strange ways sometimes.

Welcome to the site,

I see old timers are the first to tease. LoL.

Anyways search option here works magik and should have pretty much all the info that you would ever need available.

Otherwise freely ask away and you would be directed to a spot near you.

Great info, great guys and gals ... perfect place to stick around.

Andre

Welcome to the board man! You shouldn't have any problems getting into some good fish with this site. We can literally put you on a monster quick...as long as you smuggled some Iron City down here with ya, lol.

Welcome to the site. Good people and knowledge on here. I joined last year and I am 10x better fisherman than I ever was.

Why'd you leave the 'Burgh? Lol, I got family in Jefferson Hills, Dravosburg and Clairton, I love it out there

As Andy stated, google earth is your friend! Just be prepared to walk a lot. It's the only way unless you're floating!

Welcome aboard!
