Depends on the boat. Always ask prior to booking what the boat policy is.

every boat is different, always ask at time of booking. I have done it both ways sometimes good, sometimes very bad!

It's a pretty common practice, especially when fishing for Tuna and Shark.

If you went on a pb for tuna to the canyon would you share your yellowfin with the other patrons? When you go on a six pack for bluefin tuna the catch is shared because of the ridiculous limit of two fish.

I went on a 10 pack shared charter we all agreed to split catch which I have no problem with. The problem I have is when 4 of the guys don't fish and the other 4 are newbies and 2 of us busted our nuts landing fish jigging chunking and staying up for 26 hrs etc. Then when we hit the doc the a-holes that slept and did not bust ass want more then their share because they have "people " they promise some fresh tuna for. If I have the chance I will take what I catch good or bad ( exept if we are trolling ) because they are the boats catch not a persons. I hate to be that way but have been burned once too many times!!!

And just so people know, BCinerie is a generous guy who once gave me 2 tuna even though we had never before met in person. If he says the guys didn't deserve it; they didn't deserve it.

Thanks, I still remember your line, looked like a school of tuna swam through a mine field!

I do not mind sharing but there is always that one guy!

Went years ago on a crew trip for yellowfin.Landed five while most of the guys got drunk and slept thru the magic 3am bite. Drank my beer on the long ride home and eat then sleep.Back at the dock they wanted me to share my catch. If they stayed awake and contributed to the work I would have shared. Not only did I not share they were never invited again. When you go off shore and it is not a ''charter'' everyone must chip in not only money there is a lot of work involved. When it is a charter and you are all family and friends the catch is always shared. Granted it is not easy to find six guys to book an expensive canyon trip but in reality how many times will do this? Plan way ahead and maybe you will have memories that will be talked about for years.
