Angry Close encounters of the SKUNKY kind

Was out trolling Saturday night on SKUNKY NORTH END when I encountered a UFO. Now when I refer to this type of UFO I am not speaking of a space ship but a boat.

Was trolling the weed break line about 11:30 heading parallel with the shore working the weed line & had just pasted two guys anchored in the channel just south of the bridge.

As I had passed the bridge there was a strange glowing off the water, with no moon this was really odd. I got a bout 50 feet pass the bridge when I heard a growl of either 10 hp motor with a WEST COAST FAT BOY expansion chamber on it or a considerably larger motor (70+ hp on a 22+ fiberglass whaler/Carolina skiff type boat with about 8 HALOGEN beams across the bow & two on the stern. I had to yell out that I had lines out in front of them or they would have cut me off. That would have been a welcomed sacrifice if it would have shut them down to clear the mess off the prop & hopefully leave them dead in the water.

They passed the guys anchored in the channel (good thing they had their boat well lit) & once they had passed them by about 200 feet the driver hit it & the ripped off @ 30+ mph, throwing a wake that probably woke ski skiers dreaming of the perfect launch pad to get some serious air.

They cruised down to about the power lines & then cut the engine. It was quiet for about 20 min until I was just passing the North shore point @ the bay behind the quarry when they came ripping up the channel again.

This time I had my light cannon ready & hit with a couple hundred lumens to let them know I was there this time.

They quickly headed in to ramp & loaded up & were out of there quick-NASCAR style because they probably assumed that one of the two boats they had encountered had probably called the authorities. HAD I THE # TO CALL I WOULD HAVE BECAUSE I WAS LIVID. IF SOMEONE HAS IT PLEASE SHARE SO WE CAN ALL BAND TOGETHER TO GET THESE KIND OF DICKHEADS TO MEET A JUDGE real soon.

I hope that there is a law enforcement officer reading this & passes this off the NJ STATE Marine Police unit so they can set up a sting to bust these pricks. Last year it was a dickhead on pontoon boat having parties on SKUNKY & this year the UFO boys. This kind of crap will ruin it for these rest of us night owls-we could soon see locks on the gates if we do not take action.

On the fishing front slow night-just one big boy MUSKY who threw the lure @ the boat as I was putting the net in the water. I probably should have let him tire a little more since I was just out with the YUMA dog & netting a sub like that can be bitch while keeping the dog from trying to vanish the intruder he dared to make it on his boat. I will get'em the next time- maybe captain bossy pants joins my. You who you are captain, call me later today!

Nice front squatting us, good luck to anyone out there now enjoying it!

Ok, now back to work & the joys of cubicle life & fluorescent lighting...

Tight lines & screaming drags!

I got nothing against bow fisherman, but some of these dudes should be operating their rigs within the rules. They take enough crap as it is, but they are asking for it running and gunning on restricted lakes.

Question Re: Close encounters of the SKUNKY kind

Why would anyone want to bow fish there at night with a 70hp motor I'll never know

I am no choir boy but I do try & play by the rules. Not trying to jump on a soap box or anything like that.

Somebody is going to die one of these nights after getting run over by these jerks who seem to have no respect for rules or life.

I just do not want it on my conscious that I saw it & did nothing about it.

The next time I will have the RINGWOOD POLICE on them waiting @ both of the ramp just in case they have a buddy with empty trailer on stand by.

They are just lucky that they did not meet up with one of the local JW guys who were there-they have sunk'em.

That's a bummer of a night! Some of us may know what boat it was, pretty sure I do! Settle down out there big boat show offs. Your going to kill somebody one day.
