Default Incredible seabassing

Saturday 6-12 -> On saturday, my dad and I left keyport at 515 and headed straight to the seabass grounds, (SHR). We had immediate action on the drift. Shorts way out-numbered the keepers as there was about 10 shorts per 1 keeper. After a stellar first drift, boxing 7 and putting an overall tally over 58 fish in the boat, it slowed down. Wind picked up heavy out of the NW and our drift speed went from .6 to 1.8! Still picked and plucked all day long. made lots of wiggles, drifts drops and when the wind died out, the action picked up. We put a total of 243 fish in the boat, with only 22 keepers to show for it. Insane action to say the least, but i would have liked to see more keepers. Also had a few ling.

Sunday 6-13 -> Another good day on the seabass grounds. Flat as can be outside on the ocean. Made a few drifts early with nothing really to show for it. Couldn't find the good readings of life we had the day before. Time for plan B, headed offshore to fish a little deeper. Drifted around and picked more and more shorts (5-8 inches). Eventually, around 10 am, we found the mother load, and had drop and reel fishing for the next 3 hours. Ended with 258 shorts, and 24 keepers. larger fish ate new penny gulp shrimp. Also had a 19.5 inch fluke.

Recap: The amount of short fish amazed me. Drop and reel double header shorts for hours at a time. We had drifts that lasted .4 miles of drop and reel shorts with the ocasional keepers.

Nice 2 days of fishing you had there. A lot of action & you still scratched out a good catch.
