Talking Henry's Honeybee Honey-holes

I was extremely disappointed last night when I learned my Sponsor Sea Bass charter was canceled (AGAIN) due to windy conditions on Tuesday (good call Captain Cole). However I was soon feeling good again after getting an invitation to go for Fluke on Jakesdad's (Henry) Honeybee in Shark River. By staying in the River we hoped to avoid the strong SW wind.

What a great trip - the 3 of us fished in the afternoon and all told, we landed 100+ fluke in just a few hours. Five were keepers up to the 21" fatty in picture. Henry knows the river/inlet intimitely and we caught fish everywhere we ventured: from tennis courts down to the Lagoon east of the Route 71 Bridge. We went through a brick of Spearing and 2 pounds of Smelt. No Gulp! when we fish the River, just a Spearing/Smelt on a 3/4 ounce jighead with a Spearing/Smelt on feathered teaser about 14" above the jighead.

We had Shark River almost to ourselves today, very little boat traffic. Almost as gratifying as today's catching is the minimal amount of fuel we burned. The owner of Henry's Marina couldn't believe we put together such a great catch only yards from where Honeybee is berthed. . . . Shark River produces

Nice job sounds like a great day! Where do you get your smelt from? Would like to give them a try sometime fluking.

Thanks for the report.

Answers:
- Deep: Smelts are from Shop-Rite or Asian Market. 2 pound bag is under $5, just make sure you get them with Heads ON

- Duff: it's my latest fashion statement, same as this pic, only the Englishtown Flea Market Camo version

Nice, we sail out of there and always fish it before hitting the ocean if traffic is light.
