![]() I am considering running out the SRR on sat for a try at whatever may be around. Sea bass, maybe a cod and so on. I have never fished there before. any ideas what may be around this time of year? Drift? Anchor? I am kind of new to this type of fishing. It is a longish run from Monmoth Cove Marina. I am looking at it due to the deeper water and a wide area of structure. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance

![]() drift/anchor depending on conditions... Lots of very high rubble and extremely sticky bottom so drifting where it's nasty is tough...
There's always life there, loads of perch, some cod, pollock, maybe a few ling and seabass -- also lots of trash (banana cod love that reef). In my experience fishing that area it can be feast or famine -- being just inside the mud hole there are always tidal/current changes there and fishing can be lights out one minute and DEAD the next, so be aware. There are lots of basically invisible "pots" on that reef which are kept afloat by clear bottles - a navigational nightmare in the dark. Be aware of this also. And not for nothing... We found more cod inshore the last few trips than there were out in that deeper water - just a point to consider ![]() |

![]() Thanks for the information. Maybe I will stick a little closer in and save the fuel.

![]() Northeast blow all week, water has warmed up some... definitely give it a try inshore first. Otherwise, what Capt. Allen said

![]() Yea, the weather is not looking that great for a run out there in a 25. I will look into other location options. Maybe the old mud buoy area. There always seems to be a lot of Sea Bass around
Thanks to all BP |
