Default Keyport Seahawk - Saturday fluke and blues

headed out early today in hopes of a decent fluke bite. I think we knew with the conditions that probably wouldn't happen but went for it anyway. Put a nice 20" keeper in the boat quick but then couldn't buy a hit til some blues showed up and stole some bucktails and trailers.

We moved a few times trying different things but only managed 3 more shorts (1 close at 17" though) and what first appeared to be a weird looking fluke turned out to be a huge sundial haha.

We finally threw in the fluke towel and joined the bluefish anarchy by keansburg. Tons of fun for all. Metal jigs retrieved spastically seemed to be the ticket for fast and furious action. 9 blues for me and 10 for John plus a nice fish bite slice for him. Cleaned it, taped it up, and back on the action! Bluefish were truly built to fight anglers! Get out there and enjoy them!

I fished Saturday. Sunday was boat maintenance. Sat we fluked all over the bay. Keansberg hole, 3 sides of navy pier, officers row, Sandy hook channel, Outside the hook, deep, shallow, Brooklyn side of Ambrose,

Highlights - 5lb Fluke caught tip of pier, Beluga whale sighting at Sandy Hook channel. Otherwise we caught shorts and skates. We used SHARKBITE BUCKTAILS and dragged bait too.
