May 23rd Striped bass report -Johnny Bucktails
Headed out with the lip and my cousin Frank at 3pm for a little afternoon bassin. Made bait in one throw and we were off. I decided to try a new area today in hopes of getting away from the bluefish. The first few spots that i tried had only a few bluefish in them. Was getting late and decided to make one last drift before calling it a night. We had nothing until we were bringing in the rods. As the Lip was reeling in his bunker, it got smashed by a big bass. Got her in the net and pulled the boga down to just over 30 pounds. Put the rods back out and the lip hooked up again. Another nice fish for the lip that weighed around 25 pounds. Finished out the drift and did not hook up again. With the sun going down and building seas we were forced to call it a day. Will be on them again very shortly.
