![]() Fished Stephens State Park yesterday. (Upper Musky river) What a bust. Very low water. Most of it slow running. I was greeted by four grey herons standing in four inches of water. They are notorius for catching stocked trout. The mosquitoes were so glad I decided to show up. First time I got really eaten up this year. Every cast I caught a bluegill. Not one trout. The park is well taking care of but for me it's my last trip there. There are much better fishable trout waters.

![]() I haven't been there in a few years, but used to do pretty well there with a fly rod and some GR Hares Ears and Wolly Buggers

![]() With all the weeds growing in the water there it would be "impossible" to drift any nymph through all that nasty looking grass that is growing there. A dry fly may work.

![]() .
We seriously need rain. The rivers are way too low for mid-May. It's time for a rain dance. Let the other anglers and walkers laugh while I dance on the river banks wearing a loin cloth and feathers. We'll see who is laughing when the skies open up with torrents of rain this month! .
