Default Shakedown trip today! Sufggestions?

Launching today and I want to catch something.
Blues, Bass - I don't care. Just want to feel something on the end of my line.
Thinking of Keyport/Keansburg area should be good.
Bunker will be my bait of choice. Are they around?
Should I troll?

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance

Bunker are around but I would not depend on running into them while you're trolling. If you plan to Bunker fish you'd either need to buy some ahead of time or spend the time to go to the usual areas they hang out and net or snag some.

I've not done that yet this year but from the people I've talked to that do this regularly, it seems to be hit and miss and the bunker are scattered so you will likely need to work for them, especially if you don't target bunker on a regular basis.

If I were you I would buy some to have on hand. Troll around and if you starting marking fish stop and chunk. Seems like people are also getting them on surface casting plugs and soft body shad/bunker imitations, so I'd have some of them on hand too.

Have fun and lets us know how you make out.
