Was down in Keyport a few days ago. Some big blues in the 10 to 15 foot area trolling , but not a hit in the shallows on top waters. Tried surface in several areas all with same results........nada. Water still in low to mid 50's.
Long way to drive for not much, wait a week or so.

From the beach in Western Sandy Hook Bay on Saturday PM. Plenty of action on the latter part of incoming tide. Size ranged from 5# to about 12#. As the tide rose, the fish moved in closer and even wader-less fishermen were nailing them. They were hitting metal and poppers. I suppose bunker would have worked, but who needs it? Thursday, I tried 3 spots w/o a hit -- used both fresh bunker & lures. Everyday is different, but hopefully the water is warming and the fish will be there when you arrive. The PB reported good jigging off the mid-coast on Sat., but not so much on Sun. and Mon. S wind, dropping the water temp. a few degrees, probably had a lot to do w/ the diminished action in the last 2 days.

Try here. Every lure worked. They really went after poppers dragged across the surface as fast as I could. Fish were 3' to 9'. Finning on the surface like sharks. Caught about 45 from my kayak. 5 to 18 lbs.
