Default Sunday....

Truth in reporting. Sunday sucked for us. Doug spent the first hour driving around in circles then threw in the towel and gave control back to me.

I didn't do much better, however I did finally find a small pile. Anchored up and Doug got a quick short. I felt some vindication being that Doug thought "it was so easy". We then missed some hits and lost some hooks to the demons. This wasn't good enough for the c man. He wanted to move. I said "it's been slow for us, we have some fish here, let's see what happens". I explained that I thought we should stay and see what happens but he insisted. Being it was his turn to "run the boat" I gave in (mistake). We pulled the anchor, Doug threw a dart at the chart and said "here". We tried his next three spots (more darts at the chart) and we never had another bite.

Dougs lesson of the day: don't leave fish to find fish

Will try again soon

We were out Sunday also and trolling plugs wasn't working for us. Too much vegetation and no marks! Anchored up away from the fleet off of Keansburg and it was short after short after short with one 31" keeper in the mix. Pretty much nonstop till the tide slowed on us and skates came out. Our half bushel of clams were gone as well. I couldn't believe how many fish we missed.

Thanks for the report Shripman, still a nice day day on the water!

Always a tough call but agree usually best to stay in the area that's holding fish

yeah , we came in for a bit , cleaned the boat up and headed back out to the shallows based on a tip we had from a fellow capt. no good but we managed to pull a 40 ft dead man log out of the mud back by morgan and hauled it back to the shore area let it go and tied a gallon jug on it incase the current didn't take it on land. so I guess even though we didn't catch we did a good deed for everyone else !
