![]() Even though this is njfishing for some strange reason we are still posting about ny salmon so let the trend continue.
Got up at 2 am on Saturday and after picking up 3 friends (2 were going for the first time) of to Pulaski we went. Quick stop for some morning witches brew, some waders for the newbies and we were on the river by 8 morning. 3 cast in and stellie is on. After about 20 mind boggling aerial acrobatics he managed to shake the line and off he went. Fishing continues and next one on is a king salmon. After careful examination and having newbies trying to get the fish in the net it was let go (snag hooked it by the tail) Fish is going to die anyway but rules are rules plus what is not fun to not get the fish the right way. Next to bow down to our skills was a coho and man that fish a beauty. My friend hooked up with that beast and there is no way it was going anywhere. Fished till about 3pm and landed one more king and one stellie. The most embarrassing moment for me came when I thought I had a good one. Screaming to top of my lungs Fish on I was wrestling the beast but have not seen him make a leap of faith out of the water. 5 minutes later I bring out a nice chunk of freacking rock. Line wrapped around it and it was taken down river by the current creating an illusion of the fish on the line. My rod was almost broken at that moment and I had to make a walk of shame into the woods. Sunday, Up and early we went back. Weather was not good but not bad either and there were a of of stellies to be had. Went to Jefferson area and fished there till 12pm hooking up with only one stellie. Oh and my friend's net that he managed to loose like a mile upstream. Overall not a bad weekend of fishing. Fish is still around but pretty much its either hit or miss. IF you willing to chase it and put your time into it you will not go home empty handed. Andre "Bad day of fishing is still better than a good day at work" |

![]() I remember fishing Oak Orchard many years ago and snagged a bunch of zebra mussels which were attached to a small rock. Like you probably experienced, the current grabs the rock and it causes almost like a fluttering action which feels like a head shake in the current. I too thought I had a nice fish on for a few minutes only to realize a little later that wasn't the case. Now I wait for the fish to jump before getting excited! Rocks and zebra mussels will typically stay low in the water column

![]() Reminds me of a trick my buddies pulled on a friend of ours a few years ago while trolling for stripers, Mac dozed off and while he was asleep they tied a 5 gallon bucket to his line and punched a couple holes in the bottom..They all started screaming to Mac that he had a monster strike, of course u can figure the rest, took him 10 or 15 mins to figure out he'd been pranked..Meanwhile the group was delierious over his antics about big a fish he had on his line..Doubt he'll ever live that one down..
