Default Shore SR Hybrid

PB Hybrid - 23" and well fed. Sun morning before wind really picked up, managed to tangle all my rigs and ran a few times. Got 3 others in the 12-16" range as well. Made for a good morning on the water.

Thumbs up Re: Shore SR Hybrid

Great looking fish. Those Hybrids are absolutely insane fighting machines. Congrats on the PB! Keep em coming!

I assume they are out there crushing baitfish and whatever else gets in their path. Do the big ones school up to cruise the shallows or are they travel as "lone soldiers"?

Also anyone know how big will they get out of SR

Nice fish Ratherbe.
My weekend trip to the Spruce was too uneventful to make a thread about it, so if you don't object I would like to piggyback my fishing report onto your thread.

I fished there Saturday evening. It was fairly windy but not dangerous. The big fish just weren't biting. I got into a big school of White Perch and as GetANet is my witness, I must have caught-and-released forty White Perch in an hour. Along with the perch, I caught three small Hybrid Striped Bass. The two species of fish must travel together in the same school.

After I gave that entire school of perch pierced lips, the fishing stopped dead. Not even catfish. I paddled back to shore and loaded my stuff back into the car in the dark.

The highlight of the day was meeting the Spruce Run legend GetANet. Here is a picture of him trolling around for hybrids.

One more note; for a few reasons I don't keep Hybrid Striped Bass, but I see a few people on the board do, and that's their prerogative provided the fish exceeds the sixteen-inch minimum. I just want to advise people that the DEP strongly recommends against engorging on Hybrid Striped Bass.
Being at the top of the food chain, these fish accumulate a lot of toxins like mercury. The NJDEP currently recommends people eat no more than ONE meal of hybrid striped bass per month. I presume this is to give your body time to release all the mercury the person consumed with the fish before they eat another. This prevents mercury from building up in their system and increasing their chances of getting cancer and developing neurological problems.

Eskimo,

So that's why I am having that nice greenish glow lately. LoL.

But on the serious note I just had one which I presoaked in milk. Was not bad at all.

Thanks for the link, interesting. Only saw lakers out of Round Valley - other trout are fine? The Rainbows are hard to let go as they bake up so NICE

I kept this hybrid, little butter oil capers and lemon in a pan - im a fan. But not enough to be into the heavy metal poisoning.
