I like to launch my kayak from Memorial Park in Fairlawn and paddle upstream to fish for smallies in that section of the Passaic. Pretty good fishing, but there are tons of tires and other stuff in the water. Now that the river is running so low you see just how many. A lot of huge carp in that section too, haven't fished for them.

Thanks for posting this, good to see the cleanup happening.

I came across a crew last summer removing tires from the river. They were even nice enough to move to let me launch and warned me about some shallow rocky spots. Definitely had their work cut out for them cause there had to be a couple hundred tires in that mile or so stretch we were fishing that day. Caught some decent bass too!!

A monumental task! Shopping carts next I hope. What's really disgusting is all the plastic bags. You see them decorating trees like Christmas tree tinsel after it floods.
