Reel Class Weds 8/27 Fluke
Had a full 6 man crew today for a fluke trip. Left at 6 found a very nice ocean with a very very long period swell. It was basically FLAT CALM all day long. LOL
First few drifts were DEAD - absolutely no bites and little drift. Bounced all over for over an hour and had 1 short and 1 nice seabass to show for it.
Finally got a call of a little bite further down the line (thanks dan) so we went over. First few drifts we banged 1-3 keepers per drift, thought it was gonna be lights out, but that slowed considerably as we lost the little drift we had and also had a lot of company.
We then bounced around looking for a patch only to find a few shorts and a couple more keepers. Late in the day we finally got into another patch and were able to finish off the day strong with some more nice keepers.
Nobody had a limit today, but 4 of the guys were tied for high hook with 3 each. Also had a few nice 2-3# seabass. Pieced it together for 16 in the box, all but one of them was in the 20-25" range - Pete had the biggest of the day somewhere between 5-6#.
These guys fished hard all day and got some nice bags of fillets for their efforts - they didn't come easy but it turned out to be a decent day.
