Default Reel Class Monday 7/21 Fluke "Report" & Pee-wee's

Ran open today for fluke. I had mixed feelings about the trip as the big heave the day before created an unsettled ocean.

Broke the inlet and found a good sized heave out of the east but we proceeded out to the area where we were going to fish. Inside of I'd say 4.5 miles, water was BROWN, current was roaring from the north. So we went a bit further off and found crystal clear water and good conditions (drift was .7-1.2) so we set up on some snags and got things going.

Had 3 fish right away, all nice fish topped by a 6-7# taken by me. The rest were nice also. After that, things slowed horrendously. For the rest of the morning till 12:30, we had just 3 more, all keepers. Bites were few and far between, and things were horribly slow.

We bounced around, and that dirty water and hard current found us, and fishing simply shut off.

We then ran into the pee-wee sized bluefish a few miles to the south while we were fluking, and broke out the jigging outfits and spinning rods, and caught a load, sometimes 3 at a time. The guys easily bagged their lol "limits" and released many.

For the day we wound up with 6 keeper fluke (caught 7 in total ), 1 ling, and ~75 bluefish. Very tough day, but at least we bent the rods a little with the little bluefish.

Nice flattie Allen! To me...those bluefish are the best size to eat! Grind up what's left of them...and u can go get yourself another thresher too!
