round valley today 6/27/14

Hit round valley today and had a nice day! Started the morning of with a 20" bow that hit on the down rigger 30 feet down with a 3.5" hammered silver with orange and green stripes 75 feet behind the ball. Second was 15 minutes later the same rod hits and it's another similar sized bow and it net hooks and rolls out.... heart breaker! Third was a 21" lake trout 65 feet down on a laker taker flutter spoon. After all of those were within 30 minutes we didn't get another bite until 730 when a stacked rod on the down rigger hit and immediately a nice jump. When we got it to the net we were shocked to see a nice brown that was 19" and hit a similar flutter spoon 80 feet behind the clip and 25 feet down. Then a small rainbow about 17" on the planer boards that hit a pheobe. At 930 we hooked 2 Lakers landing 1 and losing the other. Nice day, good east wind and cloud cover in the morning seems to be the trick! Water was 72 - 74, lakers had small shiner fry in their bellies.

Wow. A report not Passaic River related? I'm stunned!

Small rainbow @ 17"? lol I once caught a 16" wild bow in a wild trout stream and considered that a fish to be a trophy!

Haha yeah Passaic river is a hot topic for sure! I do sound spoiled saying a 17" bow is small but they aren't any smaller there since the state hasn't stocked since last year and they've grown to this size now. If I caught a 16" wild bow I'd go crazy!

I was there at 6, had 3 lakers and 1 bow. All lakers on silver spoons, bow on a rapala. Believe I saw you, I was on the 18 crestliner. Pretty good day for my third day on the lake.

Nice I think I remember that boat but there was another similar one out there. Is your boat the one with the white bow mount trolling motor or the one with out a bow mount? Either way nice job it was our third time ever there as well

I have a black bow mount terrova, honda kicker, 90 merc. I did see the white one tho.
