Default Chasin'tail Mako Mania

Day 1 - We made a 80 mile haul on sat to an area with clean water and a nice temp break. With noone in site we set up on the cool side in 66.5 degree water on the edge with whales an pods on skippys all around the boat. Around 10am we had our first mako to the boat after pulling it onto the swim platform took a quick measurement at 64inchs an let it go as it didnt make the 66 in minimum for the scales. Soon after we had a mako pup fish tank size messing around the chum bucket. By noon the wind dropped and the warm water slid in an that was it for the rest of the day. Should have picked up an ran but stuck it out drifting n dreaming something would find the slick.
Day 2- First boat out the inlet this morning we hauled ass in a slightly different direction and had baits in the water at 7am. Water was perfect 65.5 and clean. Nothing for a few hours then we released our first mako. Soon after we had another run off that turned out to be a blueshark. Around 2pm the furthest line gets ripped comes tight and Kevin turns and says this is the right one.. After airing out a couple times and hard fought battle we got him to the side of the boat an sunk the flier into it.. Turned out the be 72in and 125lb on the scale.. looked bigger then it was,not a competitor but nice fish for the grill
Big thanks to our sponsers Avet, JerseyJigger, Tom at TN-Tackle for all the top of the line shark rigs and for Pete at Atlantic Bait for getting out of bed at 330 in the morning so we could get all our bait for sunday. Really appreciated. Stop in an say hi hes got everything an anything you need for a great day on the water.
