Thumbs up Lower South Branch 6/22/14:

First hit he diner with Wilson at 6am for a good breakfast. We floated the South Branch from just below Camp Carr (Stanton Station) to Rockafellows dam. No shortage of cookie cutter rainbow trout from start to finish, lost count after a while. Trout were sitting in the runs and went nuts once they were hooked. Loads of smallmouth too but nothing big. Nice float, only took us 4 and a half hours. Lots of boat traffic after we took out, many people enjoying floating the river in kayaks and canoes. This stretch of water should look a little better after the CJST bears down on it next week.

The ‘bows in your photos looked clean,…………no signs of furunculosis: lesions, boils.

Were all the trout clean?

All the fish looked clean and healthy, some with full fins. I'm amazed at the amount of trout on this section of water, who said trout season was over ? We by passed many spots also.

Glad to see you and Wilson had a good day. Might give it a try on Friday.

Yesterday, an angler called about a jaw tagged (a NJDF&W "hook a winner") rainbow,............one of several that he caught @ Hunterdon Co.'s Sunnyside Park, just downstream of Camp Carr. They're out there!
