Default Not a good way to end the day!

The day didn't start off to well when vintastics alarm "didn't go off"! So after waiting for a "while" he gets in my car and the check engine light comes on! I'm starting to think this trip is cursed!

So after a late start and worrying about my engine light we start fishin out side of keyport, nothing! Head to Belford flats, nothing. Decide to run up the shrusberry river where I heard they had them the day before. Nothin! Then vin hooks into a nice five pounder! After that, nothin! Head back out to the knoll, nothin. This is starting to suck, but I ain't seen sucked yet. Fished hard covered 40 miles and had one keeper (vins)

Now it gets good! Riding home on the parkway a car pulls next to me, rolls down his window and says "your tire is smoking badly"! I look in the mirror and see a trail of smoke! I pull over immediately and the sucker is cookin good!

Good thing I bought the gold trailer package from seatow! I called ST and told them what was happening and they went right into action for me. Took all my info and they had a flatbed there within 45 minutes. They were great! This years membership just paid for itself. I felt the price for a hub and bearing quoted was a little high ($300). But at least the tow is covered!

Hoping it will be done tomorrow so I ca fish with BC on tues. or Wednesday.

What a sucky day, but at least I didn't loose a tire doing 60 with the boat on the trailer on the parkway.

Vintastic, I love ya, now delete my number

Steve the hub and bearings will be like $100. The trailer place by dosils on 36 has all replacement parts in stock! Make sure when packing the bearings to grease the hell out of them. Don't forget the other side as well!!

I have bearing buddies 10 pumps in each wheel every other trip. I think I'm getting ripped of with the 300 quote for one side.

I almost forgot, vins five pounder.

Few things you can learn from this...
1: it is much better to grease a warm/hot bearing, in this instance per example, before you launch into the cool saltwater , give the hubs some grease while they're expanded and warm before you launch,so it flows better, I know you have a bit of a ride Shrimpy... So this action should be practiced religiously per trip, find a good spot to keep your grease gun in your truck and make it a habit of giving them a shot or two before and after the ride- you're going high speed so it will make the grease part faster...
2: bearing buddies- they'll help hold some of the grease from slinging off in transit, and packed w grease, will help with s/w intrusion to said bearings.
3: if I was taking a trip more than say 20 miles... I would have a good set of tools and hardware for something that may go wrong on the way, ya know, tire plugs, spare, few bolts for trailer, bulbs for sure, wire connectors, jack and some type of compressor: jump pack, 12 volt something, even fix a flat if it came down to it.
When one goes- do the other one too, or other 3, but I think ya got two

Side question?- whose side was the bad tire on, if and when I trailer I watch that as much as I watch the traffic ahead, just because...

Glad ya made out ok with everything, fishing will only get better as time goes on, hopefully...
Look foward to seeing ya out front soon!

been there done that..
Whenever you trailer your boat, stop when you can and feel those hubs on the trailer.. If they are more than just warm, stop!.. They should never be hot to the touch..I stop several times each trip.. After an hour or so, is they don't get hot you are probably ok... Those bearings need constant care on any salt water rig,, Just the way it is.. I would pull them apart a few times each season, and replace them at ANY sign of corrosion or roughness,,bob
