Talking kept it local this weekend

i was sick friday & saturday so i thought my memorial day weekend was going to be a bust. felt a little better on sunday, but still wasn't feeling like putting too much effort into things, so i just dragged myself down to one of the lakes here in town. glad that i did, because it was game on as soon as i got there.

bunch of slab crappies. my freakishly large hands make fish look small, but these were all over 12"

big fish of the weekend... this cow went 3#4oz

the fish really did seem to be just what i needed to kick the cold, because i was feeling good enough that night to put the kayak in the water
2#4

some interesting spots on this one... not growths or anything, just pigmentation. other side looked normal.

had to keep a good thing rolling so went back this morning for a bit. i figured that this afternoon's heavy thunderstorms would have the fish on the feed, and that turned out right.

this one was exactly 1.00 kilogram, because my damn scale had apparently turned itself on and switched to metric mode (2#3oz)

plenty of chainsides mixed in to provide the occasional clean bite-off. can't really complain too much though, didn't catch any smaller than 20"

2#11

more real nice crappies mixed in

1#4

smallest fish landed still a "keeper" bass

1#5oz, biggest crappie of the two days

so many fish, this was just a fraction of it

most fish caught on good ol' 3" black senko, the rest on a silver #8 husky jerk, all released.

it's definitely warmwater time! go fishing!

Nice bunch of fish for a sick guy, great pictures to. My 2 and half year old grandson loved scrolling up and down through them, he's almost ready to go out with pop.

Nice fish!

How are you rigging the senko? wacky style or through the tip?

Can't beat local. Places far off look better in pics & on the map but that little spot down the road is usually better.

Nice mixed bag for an angler that was feeling a little under the weather. Some nice LM and nice SLAB Crappie. I gots a couple honey holes close to home. Gotta love local waters with good fish populations. Good stuff!!!
